Alabama Relief...

I have partnered with Crystal of Lily b. Photography and several other boutiques

to help raise money to help the devastated Alabama.

many of you know that i am from alabama. i grew up in enterprise, a smallish town in southeast alabama. i went to enterprise high school – home of the wildcats – where i was an athlete, a friend, and a good student. i attended troy university in troy for undergrad. i was socially awkward and nervous. i wanted to change the world. i ended up with an english degree. on a whim, i applied to the university of alabama school of law and was accepted. i lived in tuscaloosa for three years. i met my husband there. i got engaged there. i made friends. connected with mentors. lost and found myself again. after law school, i left tuscaloosa and moved to birmingham, alabama, where my sister and almost all of my extended family still live. i clerked for a federal judge. i got married. i became an aunt. i found out i was expecting a baby. i grew apart from friends and met one of my dearest friends. i struggled. i succeeded. my husband and i decided to move to washington, d.c.

i was so happy to leave. alabama was not the place for me.

yesterday, i watched helplessly as a tornado ripped through my home state of alabama. i worried about my loved ones. i worried about those people that i didn’t know but whose lives are somehow connected to my own through the commonality of this state. alabama. i watched parts of you destroyed. and, i wept for you. i worried for you. i hate you but i love you. you are my family.

lives have been lost. homes destroyed. horrifying. surreal. devastating. words are not adequate. i want to help. i need to help. my hope is that you do too.

Easter 2011...

Easter 2011...

We had a pretty relaxing day.

First Lillian got her Easter basket.

It contained two of Lillian's favorite things.

1. DUCKS

She got a duck puppet that quacks three different songs when you move the beak 

and a small stuffed duckling.

She wasn't quite sure what to make of the puppet at first...

The face is classic...

But then she decided she loved him

2. BOOKS...

Then Lillian hunted or more like gathered Easter eggs...

Then we played inside for a bit...

We ended our day by going to JJ's for dinner with his parents.

What a great day!

I look forward to many more...

A trillion thank yous...

In the final standings I ended up in third which is just truly amazing and if they had not changed the rules on us I would be moving on. I am going to give them the benefit of the doubt until the final 20 come out at 3pm EST. For now I want to say THANK YOU.

I am beyond grateful and feel blessed to have so much support from loved one and complete strangers alike.

 Sometimes you start to wonder about the world and if anyone cares about the well being of others. 

Through this process my faith in others is truly restored and for that it has all been worthwhile.

 I have also grown throughout this process.

 I have learned to use imovie and several other programs which will help me persevere our family memories. 

I have gained many new contacts and friends, 

The support you have given me is unbelievable. 

Now we will just keep our fingers crossed.

 Thank you a trillion times from the bottom of my heart and I will keep you updated:)

Warm weather...

Finally...

warm weather and no rain

Step one:

go to the dollar store to get bubbles and a ball

Step two...

 comfy outdoor clothes

step three...

PLAY

Bubbles or "BAHbullllls"  as Lillian calls them

 are Lillian's favorite!!

She has figured out how to put the wand in,

how to pull it out

 and that you need to blow. 

Now if only she would put the wand anywhere near her mouth 

we would have "BAHbulllls"

Lillian has also learned how to kick a ball.

While we were playing the UPS man 

delivered Lillian's potty.

Of course we had to try it out

right away.

No day outside would not be complete

 if Mrs. Dillian did not come over to bother us.

A few weeks ago we all went to Baltimore to celebrate Christy turning 40.

We had a great time seeing all the cousins and eating crab.

They have so much fun together.

It is so special to see the different connections Lillian has with people in her life.

The obvious answer for me is my family.

I look forward to watching Lillian (slowly) grow up.

I am excited to see what the years ahead have in store for our family.

It is hard for me to remember my life before them and I cannot imagine my life without them!

I know without a doubt in my mind that life really began for me the day I became a mother.  Since December 6, 2009 my life has been more complete and filled with purpose. 

 From that moment on I have felt truly blessed and lucky. 

 I have to give credit to my amazing husband for catching this priceless moment in the middle of all the chaos.
